Laser Eye Surgery - Part 2
As you all know by now - I went under the laser 4 weeks ago for PRK, and after a couple of days of discomfort, I have now become an advocate for the procedure. My vision is amazing, and I am honestly so happy that I have done it. My lovely H has always been a 'corrective lenses' wearer (at least half a precription of what my coke bottles were) and he also got to that stage where he couldn't deal with contact lenses. So, after hearing me say "look at that", "it's X o'clock", "I can read the time on the microwave from across the room" - he decided to go under the laser for Lasik eye surgery yesterday...and we decided to tape the entire thing for The Lab.
OK - so firstly...I have to say that Lasik is a whole different procedure to PRK. I had a gentle wiping of the surface of the eye, while H had the full-on flap cutting. Having been present in the room for both - I'd choose PRK every bloody day of the week. H was a trooper the whole time, and I am so proud of him for not spazzing out. His body didn't react to the Adivan (I was tripping my head off for hours!) so he basically went through the procedure clear- headed. As I was taping it, I pretty much saw everything, and it was harsh. Wow - I couldn't have done it.
So, we have spent the last 24 hours in recovery. He is also sleeping in plastic eye guards - which make me die! They give him fish eyes and it's like sharing a bed with a skydiver! H is good now, and will blog soon. We are still slaves to the eyedrops schedule, but all in all - he's doing OK.
